The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is warning about the possibility of very heavy rainfall in southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle later this week.

The agency posted the following on its website:

''Heads up for the end of the week across southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle! Chances for heavy rainfall expected to return as early as Thursday, but more likely Friday into Saturday across the area. We could see the remnants of Tropical Storm Harold, that's currently in the western Gulf of Mexico, make it's way into our area. Some forecast guidance showing heavy rainfall as the remaining low pressure system moves overhead Friday. Widespread heavy rainfall could lead to excessive rainfall and possible flash flooding to some areas. A Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall has been identified for Thursday and a widespread Slight Risk area outlined for Friday. Stay tuned for later updates in the forecast as we get closer to the end of the week.''
