The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is predicting potentially heavy snow in parts of southeast Wyoming with what it calls a "messy winter storm system."

Laramie is under a Winter Weather Advisory. Cheyenne is slightly outside of the area covered by the advisory but is expected to receive some snow. A Winter Storm Warning has been posted for the I-80 summit with heavy snow possible.

The agency posted the following on its website:

Winter Weather Update A messy winter storm system is moving through the area today and tonight and will bring multiple rounds of snow. ❄️ The first round is moving into the southern Nebraska panhandle this morning, and will produce locally heavy snowfall through the afternoon hours. Expect a very sharp gradient in snowfall from northwest to southeast across Cheyenne county! ❄️ Round 2 begins this afternoon with locally heavy snow showers developing in Wyoming, particularly in Albany and Carbon counties. Be prepared for rapidly changing conditions if travelling this afternoon. For the rest of the Wyoming counties, this will be more in the form of widespread light snow starting late this morning and continuing through Friday morning.
