Camden Shipman hit a pair of home runs to lead the Laramie All-Stars past Cody 10-0 Thursday at the Wyoming Little League State Tournament.

The victory puts Laramie in the state championship game Saturday at noon.

Manager Jerry Dodd said their win today was huge.

“To be able to get this far and be able to have every pitcher available for Saturday will be key. We’re sitting right where we want to be.”

Shipman hit a solo home run in the third inning and added another solo blast that ended the game in the fourth, as Laramie invoked the ten-run mercy rule. Brandon Chavez also went deep, as the 11-12 All-Stars hit three home runs in a third straight game.

Jerry Dodd said of all their home run hits, “I think they are just having good approaches at plate, working the count and taking advantage of pitches. They’re just looking for base hits, and it’s working.”

Shipman had three hits and two RBI’s, while Garrett Dodd added three hits and drove in a run. Laramie finished with 14 hits.

Garrett Dodd was the starting pitcher and went two innings for the victory. Jackson Devine threw the final two innings. They surrendered just one hit.

Jerry Dodd added, “Our pitching was really strong today. I thought our defense was also very solid. In fact, our defense has really carried us, and it’s rolled over to our offense.”

The 11-12 All-Stars scored six runs in the first. Chavez homered to lead-off the bottom of the frame. Added to that were an RBI-double from Jake Vigen, an RBI-single by Darek Squires, an RBI-hit by Shipman and a two-run single from Devine. Laramie scored three more runs in the third.

The reward is a day off for the 11-12 All-Stars, as they await an opponent in the title game.

Cody will play Riverton Friday at 4 p.m. The winner faces Laramie Saturday.
