The city of Laramie is seeking residents with experience and a love of community building to apply for the many open positions on the city’s boards and commissions.

Positions are now open on the Laramie Advisory Commission on Disabilities, the Laramie Plains Civic Center Joint Powers board, the Civil Service Commission, Parks, Trees and Recreation Advisory Board, and the Laramie Regional Airport Joint Powers board.

Paula Wilson-Cazier, executive assistant to the city manager, said the city has many positions that it needs to fill.

“Not in my seven years have there been this many simultaneous listings and this few applicants,” Wilson-Cazier said.

She said all who want to be involved in community building should apply but that some positions will be looking for particular experience, for example the Laramie Advisory Commission on Disabilities.

“For the Laramie Advisory Commission on Disabilities, we are looking for applicants who are themselves disabled, who are caring for a disabled person or are involved in some significant aspect,” Wilson-Cazier said.

Wilson-Cazier said that some skills are applicable across all the city’s boards and commissions.

“Experience with grant writing is very useful, that comes up frequently while serving on any board,” she said.

Wilson-Cazier said she created an overview of all of the available positions and encourages those interested to view them on the city of Laramie website.
