The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a high wind warning for the Laramie valley.

The warning is in effect until 5 p.m. this afternoon. The Laramie valley will experience sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with 65 mph gusts being very likely.

The winds will mainly affect transportation. There is an increased blow off and blow over risk for high profile and light weight vehicles, especially on north to south oriented roads.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation says there are dangerous winds and extreme blow over risk along I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie. I-80 has been closed to light, high profile vehicles.

The NWS is warning that sustained winds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
