A man stopped for driving 46 mph above the posted speed limit on U.S. 287 could face prison time after an Albany County Sheriff's deputy allegedly found cocaine in the man's car.

Nathaniel Jeffrey Kennaday, 24, could be sentenced to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine if convicted of possession of cocaine. He is set to be arraigned in Albany County District Court on Nov. 17.

Court documents say on Sept. 24, Kennaday was diving a Mitsubishi Eclipse on U.S. 287. A deputy clocked the car doing 116 mph in a 70-mph speed zone, according to the affidavit, and stopped Kennaday for speeding.

The deputy allegedly smelled burnt marijuana while talking to Kennaday, and subsequently searched the car.

According to court documents, the deputy found two large rocks with some white powder -- which the deputy believed to be cocaine -- in plastic baggies inside of a paper fast-food cup in the center cup holder.

The deputy also allegedly found a folding mirror covered in gold fabric that had white powder residue on it.

In an interview with authorities, Kennaday confirmed that the two large rocks were cocaine and said they weighed an ounce and a half in total, according to the affidavit.

The deputy who stopped Kennaday reportedly found the weight of the cocaine to be 45 grams, or just less than 1.6 ounces.
