The Naughty Pines Derby Dames opened their 10th-anniversary season with a dominant 349-35 victory Saturday over Slaughterhouse Derby Girls at the Laramie Ice and Events Center.

The Pines were the first roller derby team in Wyoming and began competition in 2009. Throughout their 2019 season, they are honoring previous and current skaters for their contribution the sport, and Laramie independent sports as a whole.

In their season debut, the Pines jumped out to a huge lead early and were never challenged by the visitors from Greeley, CO.

There was an unusual moment that led to a stoppage in the bout when both team’s jammers (point-scorers) fouled out at the same time. That was Krashur Dollface (NPDD) and Sina Sista (Slaughterhouse). The jam was called and new skaters were chosen to replace those that had to leave the track after seven fouls.

The Naughty Pines is ranked No. 229 in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Slaughterhouse came into the bout at No. 287. They will rematch in Greeley, CO in September.

The Pines return to action May 11 with a tripleheader against the Bittersweet Bombshells from Rock Springs, and the Heartland Hellcats from North Platte, NE. Also, Naughty Pines will host the sixth annual Wyoming Roller Derby Cup on July 13 and 14, 2019.
