The Naughty Pines Derby Dames have cause for celebration with some recent news after two years.

The Pines area now a full member league with the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, or WFTDA.

Captain RIDACruel said everyone was excited about the news.

“It’s been a goal from the beginning of the league to try and get this done.”

According to RIDACruel it took a little bit to decide whether to become a full member league in WFTDA or just a recreation league.

Now that it’s complete, it means a couple of different things for the NPDD said RIDACruel.

“We’re going to be able to compete with different teams and better teams, as well as a national ranking.”

In addition, their tax status changes to a 501(c)-3 non-profit.

The Pines received the good news after a two-year apprenticeship. RIDACruel credited teammate EatMyFairyDust for taking on the task of getting all the requirements fulfilled during that two-year period.

As for some recent action on the track, NPDD was beaten on the road by Happy Valley Derby Darlins and Wasatch B, both from Utah. No scores of the bouts were available.

The Pines next home bout is July 16 at the Laramie Ice and Events Center.
