The search for 32-year-old Ben Tyner has been suspended, according to a statement from the Merritt detachment of the Royal Candian Mounted Police.
============================================================
A 32-year-old Wyoming man remains missing more than five days after his horse was found north of a town in southern Canada.
Ben Tyner, a graduate of Cheyenne Central High School, was hired as the manager of Nicola Ranch in November. The ranch is located northeast of Merritt, British Columbia.
Tyner's horse was found at roughly 5:30 a.m. local time Monday morning just north of Merritt. The discovery was reported to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police later that day, according to a statement from the agency's Merritt detachment.
No new evidence had been found as of Friday.
While Tyner is new to the area, the RCMP says he has been ranching and riding horses for many years. He is believed to be in good shape and capable of handling himself in the outdoors.
Tyner is described as standing roughly 6'3" tall and weighing 240 pounds with dark hair and a beard. He normally wears a black and red woolen hat with ear flaps.
Per the RCMP's statement Friday, weather has not hindered the search and a large number of people have volunteered to aid in the effort. The RCMP planned to continue searching into the weekend in order to cover as much terrain as possible.
Helicopters, UTVs, snowmobiles, search dogs and tracking teams have participated in the search since Monday. First Nation's bands and the area's ranching community have helped out as well.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
