Down Home Christmas, a new album produced by Dave Cobb, will accompany the Oak Ridge Boys’ 2019 Christmas tour of the same name. A holiday trek is an annual tradition for the country quartet.

Set for release on Oct. 25 on Lightning Rod Records / Thirty Tigers, Down Home Christmas features the Hall of Fame quartet singing religious standards (“Silent Night,” “Amazing Grace”) and freshly written material by some of country music and Americana’s best songwriters. Originals include “Don’t Go Pullin’ on Santa Claus’ Beard” by Anderson East and “South Alabama Christmas” by Jamey Johnson.

"Down Home Christmas began much like the other seven Christmas albums we have recorded. But things changed," says Oak Ridge Boys member Duane Allen in a press release. "Most of the songs I had collected were put on the shelf, and we started looking for songs that addressed specific subjects related to Christmas.

"Dave Cobb was the producer / coach / motivator for this project. He encouraged us to dig a little deeper into our souls, to capture the magic of each song," Allen adds. "With very simple instrumentation, the four Oak Ridge Boys' voices are out front, and in your face, with the awesome, huge sound of RCA Studio A wrapped around, but not over-powering it."
