According to Wyoming Department of Health data, the two most common causes of death in Wyoming are cancer and major cardiovascular diseases (heart disease).
The Department reports that a total of 4,706 Wyoming residents died in 2017 (the last year data is available). Wyoming’s death rate is below the national rate and has remained relatively stable over the last five years.
The causes of death in the Cowboy State have also been relatively constant in recent years. Along with cancer and heart disease; suicide, Alzheimer's Disease, chronic lower respiratory disease (COPD, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, ECT...), and accidental deaths were the other major causes here.
