University of Wyoming Homecoming 2019 Parade Details and More
The 2019 University Homecoming theme is “Breaking Through.” The annual week of celebration will be capped off with some Pokes football action when the New Mexico Lobos come to play at War Memorial.
Before the game Saturday (October 19) there is, of course, the parade, then there will be reunions and a pep rally.
The Homecoming parade will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday. It will start at Ninth Street and Ivinson Avenue. Former Wyoming State Auditor Rita Meyer is the grand marshal for this year’s parade. The parade route begins on East Ivinson and 9th Street, turns left on 3rd Street, and left on Grand Ave. Viewers can sit anywhere along this area.
Meyer (B.A. ’82, B.S. ’89) is the infrastructure investments director for Rocky Mountain Power in Wyoming. Meyer was Wyoming's state auditor from 2007-2010. She served in the Wyoming Air National Guard beginning in 1984 and retired in 2007, achieving the rank of colonel in 2004.
Cowboy Coffee will take place Saturday at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center from 7:00 AM until10:00 AM. UWAA and the UW Foundation will be hosting. Complimentary UW travel mugs, one per person, and breakfast items will be available while they last.
After coffee, it is the Alumni and Friends Reunion, in conjunction with the Pokes pregame pep rally, beginning at 10:00 AM Saturday.
UW head football coach Craig Bohl will speak at the pep rally at 10:45 AM, followed by the Cowboy Walk. The pep rally also will feature the Western Thunder Marching Band and the UW cheer squad.
Then it's Cowboy Football all afternoon. New Mexico will be in town, kickoff is at 1:00 PM. The Pepsi Pregame Zone in the Indoor Practice Facility opens three hours before kickoff.
