In October of 2018, a train crash in Southern Wyoming caused two deaths, 66 derailed cars, and 2.4 million dollars in damages, but the widow of one of the men who died is alleging that Union Pacific was negligent for failing to properly maintain the brakes system that gave out in October, leading to the deadly crash.

Sheila Martinez, widow of Jason Martinez, who was one of the two casualties of the Union Pacific crash between Cheyenne and Laramie, is suing the company for wrongful death and believes they are at fault for the accident.

The freight train was derailed after the brakes malfunctioned, causing the train to crash into another train that was stopped on the tracks.
