Cheyenne Man Charged With Strangling Wife
A Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly strangled his wife during a fight at their apartment Sunday night.
Twenty-nine-year-old Matthew Aragon was arrested for strangulation of a household member after Cheyenne Police were called to a domestic disturbance at his home in the 600 block of Shoshoni Street around 7:30 p.m.
Aragon's wife told officers that she and Matthew had been at a family member's wedding earlier in the day and that Matthew, who had been drinking, got mad at her for talking to a male friend and left without her.
She said she got a ride home and when she asked Matthew for the keys so she could go back and pick up the kids, he slapped her in the face, threw her onto the couch and began strangling her.
Aragon's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m. in Laramie County Circuit Court. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
