A man was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed in the parking lot of Carl's Jr. in Cheyenne Saturday night.

Officer Kevin Malatesta with the Cheyenne Police Department says 27-year-old Brandon Ackiss was fighting with 21-year-old Fiona Koell, when 32-year-old Kevin Porter tried to intervene.

"He (Porter) was trying to break up the fight," said Malatesta. "Ackiss pulled out a knife (and) Porter responded by pulling out a knife of his own and stabbing Ackiss with it in the stomach."

Ackiss was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

"Porter didn't require treatment," said Malatesta. "It looks like all the parties involved were transients."

Ackiss was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, a felony. He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted.
