Cheyenne Sky Path Unaffected by Budget Amendments
Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says $671,415 that was taken from the city's reserves to balance the Fiscal Year 2017 budget will not affect funding for the downtown sky path project.
The budget, which goes into effect on July 1, was approved by the governing body last Monday.
"There were some amendments that were made to the original proposed budget that took it from $48.3 million up to $49 million," said Kaysen. "Those dollars do not jeopardize the approximate $451,000 that would be taken from reserves for the sky path."
The city council gave Cheyenne's four economic development organizations the green light to apply for a $2 million grant for the sky path last month.
If approved by the Wyoming Business Council and the State Loan and Investment Board, construction on the $2.45 million project would start in 2017.
