Pop Star Demi Lovato Trying Her Hand at Country Music
It seems that pop star Demi Lovato is considering going country. The ‘Skyscraper’ singer, who was perhaps best known for her roles in ‘Barney and Friends’ and Disney’s ‘Sonny With a Chance’ before taking on a music career, tweeted that she just wrote her first country song.
To top it off, Country Music Is Love reports that Lovato has been listening to a lot of country music lately — and good country music at that. Early in the week, the 19-year-old entertainer shared that she was thoroughly enjoying Eli Young Band‘s ‘Crazy Girl,’ in addition to Rascal Flatts‘ ‘What Hurts the Most’ and later, Kenny Chesney‘s ‘The Good Stuff.’
If that slice of her music taste wasn’t surprising enough for her typically teen pop fans, we’re sure they were taken aback when Lovato followed up her latest listening updates with a song of her own. “Wrote my first country song today,” she said on Thursday.
Lovato has been mum on the country music front since tweeting about her song, and though we’re sure her crazed fans — the Lovatics — had plenty of questions about whether their favorite singer is changing gears, her lips are currently sealed. While a career in country music may seem out of left field for the Texas native, it’s really not. Her mother, Dianna Hart de la Garza, is a former country music recording artist, which undoubtedly spawned Lovato’s love for the twang genre.
