This year’s City of Laramie Fire in the Sky fireworks display is set for 10:00 p.m. on the night of July 4th, unless inclement weather conditions prevent the show.

In the event that weather prevents the show from taking place on the 4th, the show will be held on the 5th, according to a City of Laramie news release. Pyrotechnician Dave Akers will organize the technical details of the display and the fireworks will be supplied by J & M Fireworks.

The fireworks will be launched from the parking lot of the Aragon Softball Complex near 22nd Street and Armory Road. Due to restrictions imposed by the 2012 International Fire Code and the 2015 edition of the National Fire Protection Association Standard for Fireworks Display, residents will not be allowed within a 600 foot radius safety zone around the launch site. Even a light breeze can push shell debris far from the launch site.

Portions of North 22nd Street, Armory Road and Television Road will be closed prior to the display because of their proximity to the drop zone. Harney Street may be closed in the immediate vicinity. Spectator parking will not be allowed along Harney Street between the intersections with Television Road and North 19th Street, as winds have carried shell debris to those areas in previous displays.

Fire in the Sky Coordinator Mark Doyle encourages spectators to view the show from nearby city parks such as Washington, LaPrele, Harbon, Scout and Kiowa parks and other locations such as Fraternity and Sorority Park on campus. Other optimal viewing locations include the bluff behind Indian Paint Brush School.
