The Valley Service Organization (VSO) of Saratoga WY has planned just the activity to get everyone ready for spring and summer activities.

On Saturday, May 4, VSO will host the first Spring Thing: From Guns to Roses home, garden and outdoor show to the Platte Valley Community Center in Saratoga, Wyoming.

The show will feature workshops and booths offering ideas to get the most out of the warm weather. Kate Sherrod, Spring Thing committee member, says that folks can learn about ATVs; camp cooking; home improvements; gardening; foraging for and cultivating wild mushrooms; protecting against summer hazards such as West Nile virus, ticks, and heat stroke; and more.

Some booths will be informational only, some will feature relevant items for sale, some will do both.

Organizers say they have also planned several kid-friendly activities including workshops on nurturing seedlings, learning to fly cast, baking campfire pies, building kites from kits and safe kite flying. There's also a good chance Smokey Bear will be there too.

Admission to this event, a public service project of VSO in conjunction with the Platte Valley Community Center and Bridge Street Bargains, is free.
