After years of asking for it, they finally heard us. At least this one time. According to a release by the University of Wyoming, aiming to meet consumer demand and increase traffic in the Wyoming Union, the University of Wyoming will open a Chick-fil-A dining option in the 2023-24 academic year.

UW’s Board of Trustees Thursday finally approved a five-year agreement with the company that will allow UW Dining Services to operate a Chick-fil-A in the Wyoming Union, providing a food option that is available on nearly 300 college campuses across the country.

Eric Webb, UW’s associate vice president of business enterprises says, “many of our students have been telling us for years that they wanted a Chick-fil-A on campus, and we’re happy that we will be able to provide that option. Our contacts with other universities give us confidence that this will be a successful addition to our campus dining lineup, and our surveys of our campus community have shown strong support for this brand.”

A September survey of UW students and employees asking about preferences for a national chicken restaurant brand received 4,021 responses, with 67.6 percent support for Chick-fil-A; 23 percent support for Popeyes; and 9.3 percent support for KFC.

To accommodate a Chick-fil-A, plans call for remodeling the section of the Wyoming Union next to the space occupied by Panda Express and FujiSan Sushi. The university aims to have the work completed so Chick-fil-A can open during the 2023-24 academic year.

Under the terms of the agreement, UW will retain 90 percent of the revenues from the Chick-fil-A operation on campus. Those working in UW’s Chick-fil-A will be UW Dining Services employees.
