Laramie Man Found Guilty of Strangulation

A Laramie man accused of strangling a Sheridan woman in 2016 was found guilty Wednesday, May 3 in Albany County District Court.

Jacob Alan Buszkiewic, 29, was convicted of two counts of strangulation of a household member at the conclusion of the two-day jury trial.

Buszkiewic was accused of strangling the victim twice on the morning of April 30, 2016. The victim said Buszkiewic attacked her because he was angry and jealous, court documents state.

During an interview with Laramie Police officer Buszkiewic said he struck the victim after she struck him, according to the affidavit.

Court documents state a physician assistant examined the victim and told police he observed petechial hemorrhaging, a sign of asphyxia by obstructing the airways.

Buszkiewic faces up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines. He will be sentenced pending a pre-sentence investigation.
