For the fourth straight week, the Laramie Plainsmen are on the road, as they head to Rock Springs to take on the 5th-ranked Tigers.

Due to the wildfire haze in the Laramie area that forced last Friday's home game against Kelly Walsh to Casper, the Plainsmen will play five consecutive games away from home.

Laramie (1-4) has lost three straight to Natrona County, Cheyenne East, and KW.

Rock Springs (2-3) just entered the top-5 of the WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Football Poll. The Tigers are coming off a 21-7 at Natrona. It was their first win in Casper over NC in 19 years.

Trying to get back on track and play more of a complete game, Laramie head coach Clint Reed spoke to KOWB’s David Settle in the video at the top of this story. They discussed the shorter turnaround to the next game, what Coach Reed took away from the loss to the Trojans, going back on the road, and preview their opponent, Rock Springs.

Laramie will get seniors Colter Nunn and Garrett Dodd back on the field after they both missed the last two games. The Plainsmen will still be without four starters or regular contributors.

Senior Isaac Sell continues to lead Class 4A in rushing at nearly 147 yards per game. Coming off a career-best game, junior QB Jake Vigen is now throwing for 107 yards per game. Defensively, LHS is led by senior Gavin Kopp and junior Graham Jacques. They are 10th and 11th in Class 4A in defensive points per game.

Rock Springs has a balance between its run game from senior running back Colin Madsen, who is averaging 104 yards per game, and junior quarterback Brock Bider. He’s throwing for 165 yards per game with 4 touchdowns and two interceptions. Cadon Shaklee is seventh in 4A in defensive points per game at 13.8.

Both teams are similar in offense and points per game. The difference is on defense, where the Tigers allow only 336 yards and 24 points per game. That’s about half of what Laramie allows, which is over 43 points per game.

Rock Springs is 7-3 against Laramie over the last 10 meetings. That includes a 40-7 victory last year.

Kick-off from Tiger Stadium is at 6 p.m.

KOWB (AM 1290) will broadcast the game live from Rock Springs. David Settle and Aaron Lozano will call the game. The coverage will start at 5 p.m. You can listen on the radio, listen anywhere with the KOWB app, online, or through a smart speaker.
