The Best Beach Towns in Wyoming
Picture yourself on a sandy beach, the sun is shining, a gentle breeze is blowing and the waves are crashing in the distance. Now imagine that you’re in...Wyoming?
Believe it or not, life’s a beach here in the Cowboy State.
Here's our completely unofficial list of Wyoming's best "beach towns".
Alcova - This popular summer playground features four different beaches, Black Beach, Big Sandy Beach, Okie Beach and the Children’s Swim Beach. The margaritas will be flowing later this month during their annual Jimmy Buffet Day party.
Glendo - This reservoir and state park has over 2 miles of tree-lined sandy beaches. Plus, you can camp right next to the water. It's also one of the best spots in the state for fishing.
Guernsey - Along with four beach areas, Guernsey State Park features several historic landmarks, including the Oregon Trail Ruts and Register Cliff. It's also located just a few miles away from Wyoming's oldest town, Hartville, and Grayrocks Reservoir.
Pinedale - The biggest town on our list is the gateway to the Bridger-Teton National Forest and the second-largest lake in the state, Fremont Lake. It's also home to the annual Sailing Regatta. Although it has a sandy, shallow beach, the water is often too cold for swimming.
Saratoga - The famous "Hobo Springs" isn't the only place to get wild and wild in this town. Sandy Beach sits on the east side of Saratoga Lake and is one of the most popular places in the state for wind surfing.
Shoshoni - The nearby Boysen State Park has over 76 miles of shoreline, warm water, excellent trout fishing, scenic mountain views and is one of the largest state parks in Wyoming. It's a popular destination for water skiing.
