Townsquare Media Group raised $1,059,783 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® during the group’s first national Country Cares® radio and online event on March 6-7, 2014.

“Townsquare stations have been supporting St. Jude for years. This year we were excited to unite 20 markets for our first national two-day event,” said Kurt Johnson, Senior Vice President of Programming for Townsquare Media. “In addition to our local radio effort, Taste of Country, our country music and entertainment website, joined the fight and shared stories from St. Jude patients and country music artists.”

Radio listeners from cities across the country, including Atlantic City, New Jersey; Owensboro, Kentucky; Rockford, Illinois; and Tyler, Texas, tuned in to pledge their support to St. Jude by making a donation of $20 per month. During more than 26 hours of radio programming over two days, St. Jude patients like Graham, who is fighting leukemia, shared their stories. Thanks to donations from Townsquare’s loyal listeners, families will never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.

Visitors to Taste of Country learned about patients like Jessica Turri, cancer free for fourteen years, and now an employee of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude. In addition, visitors experienced emotional stories regarding St. Jude from country music artists like Lee Brice, Sheryl Crow, Billy Currington, Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, and others. All the artists encouraged visitors to pledge their support. Thanks to the generosity of all those who participated in Country Cares, St. Jude can freely share the medical breakthroughs, in addition to every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide may use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
