The race for Albany County Attorney took a turn a couple of weeks ago, but incumbent Peggy Trent is forging ahead with her reelection campaign.

Unfortunately, Trent’s opponent suffered a medical emergency and passed away earlier this month. Trent admitted it hit her pretty hard, but she’s tried to move forward knowing her position is still key within Albany County.

Trent joined the “Laramie Live on KOWB” radio morning show recently and spoke about her accomplishments in her first four years on the job, particularly with juveniles, but also has things she’d like to improve upon, including cases that involve those with disabilities. Trent said she’s noticed an increase in drug abuse among families and youth, something that’s been impacted by the county’s reduced budget, but she wants to continue to find resources to help curb that. Trent feels her office has been more transparent and open to getting information that can be released out to the public in a variety of means. She would also like to improve services overall. The general election is Nov. 6. Absentee voting is open.
