“Believing at 7220,” a letter writing campaign to benefit Make-A-Wish children and families, will take place Friday, Dec. 5, from 4-8 p.m. at the University of Wyoming Chi Omega chapter house, 1630 Sorority Row.

The event is a partnership among Chi Omega, Make-A-Wish and Macy’s Believe Campaign. For every letter written to Santa, Macy’s donates $1 up to $1 million to Make-A-Wish. The proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish nationally, as well as Make-A-Wish Wyoming.

At the Dec. 5 event, members of the community are invited to visit the Chi Omega house to donate their time to write letters, drink hot chocolate and participate in Christmas activities, including a Christmas photo booth.

Letters will be accepted until Dec. 5 at a drop box located at the Wyoming Union information desk. Participants simply write as many letters as they want addressing the question, “What is your wish this holiday season?”

This marks the seventh year Macy’s and Make-A-Wish have partnered to raise money during the holiday season. Make-A-Wish is Chi Omega’s national philanthropy, but this is the first year UW’s Chi Omega chapter has participated in the Believe Campaign, as well as the first time it has partnered with Make-A-Wish Wyoming.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to do something different and fun this holiday season,” says Kali Hill, Chi Omega’s philanthropy chair. “We also are bringing awareness to an organization such as Make-A-Wish, which not only grants wishes during the holiday season, but year round.”

Kelci Hendricks, Chi Omega member and a Make-A-Wish Wyoming volunteer, says, “The amount of time people spend doing simple tasks like letter writing shows more love and compassion to these children and families than money will.”
