The Laramie Majors and Minors All-Stars will be playing in the District 2 Little League Championship games Saturday.

Both teams have qualified for next week’s state tournament in Torrington.

The Laramie Minors team reached the title game behind Maddox Dorrell’s no-hitter on Thursday. It was part of a 10-0 victory over Torrington two nights ago. Dorrell threw 54 pitches in four innings. He allowed one walk and had eight strikeouts.

The All-Stars scored three runs in the first and one in the second for a 4-0 lead. They closed it out with six in the fourth. Laramie took advantage of eight walks and four errors by Torrington. Brock Lehning led the offense with two hits. Dax Parvin added a double and an RBI.

The Laramie Minors squad will face Torrington in the District Championship after Torrington defeated Platte County 15-5 on Friday. Today’s game is at 10 a.m. at Red Field in the Laramie Youth Baseball Complex.

The Laramie Majors All-Stars had to take a different path after they lost to Gillette Thursday night, 5-2.

In that game, it was tied 2-2 after the third inning. Gillette scored three runs in the fourth. They came on a two-run triple and a passed ball. Laramie had just two hits in the game.

That put the Majors team in a loser-out game against Torrington Friday afternoon. Laramie won 10-0 and advanced to today’s title game.

Fisher Frude and Carson Moniz combined for the shutout on the mound. Frude got the win, as he tossed four innings. Frude allowed three hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Moniz threw the fifth inning and struck out all three hitters he faced.

The All-Stars scored in each inning of yesterday’s game. Laramie got a pair of home runs and seven total extra-base hits. Max Alexander and Sam Hoyt led the offense. They both had three hits and three RBI’s. Both also had a double and a home run.

Alexander doubled to start the game. He came in on Hoyt’s double two batters later. Hoyt hit a solo home run in the third, while Alexander’s two-run shot came as part of a four-run fifth inning.

Frude also added three hits at the plate.

Laramie gets a shot at Gillette in the District Championship game today at 10 a.m. The Majors All-Stars have to win twice to win the District title. Gillette needs one victory for the championship.
