The cold-shooting Wyoming Cowboys lost their exhibition basketball game to the Fort Lewis Skyhawks, 77-69, in overtime Saturday night in Laramie.

Wyoming trailed by nine points with five minutes left, but rallied and forced overtime.

Jordan Naughton knocked down two free throws with 16 seconds left in regulation. Fort Lewis had a chance to win it, but Morris Marshall stole the ball. However, the Cowboys couldn’t get a shot off before time expired.

In the extra period, UW failed to make a field goal and were out-scored 12-to-4. The Skyhawks hit three big jumpers in about a minute. Two of them were three-pointers by Cade Kloster, which put the game out of reach.

The Cowboys did play the final 15 minutes of regulation and all of overtime without Josh Adams, Jason McManamen and Alan Herndon stepping on the floor. Head coach Larry Shyatt admitted after the game, that it was done by design.

UW was led by Adams with 18 points. Trey Washington III added ten points. The Pokes shot only 33 percent from the field, 17-of-52. They also were out-rebounded 47-33 by Fort Lewis.

The Skyhawks had four players in double figures. They were led by Kloster, who scored a game-high 21 points. They shot 40 percent from the floor and made 12 3-pointers.

Wyoming will begin their season on Nov. 13, when they host Bristol University (Calif.) in the Arena-Auditorium at 7 p.m.
