Laramie Therapist Charged with 25 Felonies Awaits Arraignment
A Laramie man charged with 25 felonies is awaiting arraignment in Albany County Detention Center.
Scott Alan Addison, 48, was arrested Feb. 22 as a result of an investigation that began in October 2016. Addison is charged with one count of sexual assault in the first degree, one count of blackmail, two counts of attempted blackmail, one count of felonious restraint and 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Addison was listed as a therapist on the website of Pendley & Associates, a wellness center with locations in both Laramie and Cheyenne. His name has since been removed, the Laramie Boomerang reports.
According to the affidavit, the investigation began when a Laramie Police officer spoke with a woman who said she met with the defendant at his residence, on Sept. 9 or Sept 16.
The woman said she followed the defendant into his home and once inside, he locked the door, took off her clothes and took nude photographs of her with his cell phone, according to court documents. The woman said he later tied her hands behind her back. She said that after she refused to participate in a sexual act, he struck her several times in the stomach and then sexually assaulted her.
The woman said that afterwards the defendant cut the bindings and told her that if she told anyone about the incident, he would send the nude images to other people, according to court documents.
The woman underwent a medical exam, which found injuries consistent with her report.
A search warrant was executed on Oct. 19 and found communication between the victim’s phone and the phone number provided by the defendant. Police also seized items, such as electronics, during a search warrant executed on the home a week later. Forensic examination of those electronics turned up a large number of images featuring sexual acts between the defendant and multiple women, including the woman who made the report, according to court documents.
Law enforcement contacted other women who were thought to have had contact with the defendant. A second woman reported having a sexual encounter with a man named “Jack.”
According to the affidavit, the woman said "Jack" was still in contact with her and had threatened to send nude pictures of her to her boss if she did not have sex with him. In a photo lineup, the woman identified the defendant as “Jack,” according to court documents.
Two other women came forward on Dec. 13 and 14, respectively. Both women reported that a man was threatening them with nude images that he taken of them. Images of one of the women was found on the defendant’s cell phone, as well as an image picturing an injury she said she incurred during the encounter with the defendant, according to the affidavit.
The other woman identified the defendant in a photo lineup, court documents state.
Investigators also found 13 sexually explicit images and seven videos of a woman who was 17 at the time the images were taken, court documents state. An officer contacted the teen on Feb. 8. The woman said she began talking to the defendant through text messaging when she was 17. She said the defendant knew she was 17 at the time, and solicited several nude images of her, according to court documents.
Addison is being held at the Albany County Detention Center, his bond is set at $50,000 cash. Addison’s arraignment is yet to be scheduled in District Court.
