Liz Cheney: The Affordable Care Act Must Go

Wyoming Republican congressional candidate Liz Cheney says the federal Affordable Care Act must be repealed.

Cheney says the ACA "is killing us." She says the act is hurting small businesses in Wyoming, adding "people's premiums are going up, the deductibles are going up, we aren't getting the care that folks need, they aren't getting to keep their own physicians."

She says in general "it's a huge burden on the economy" and "absolutely must be repealed."

Cheney on Wednesday in Cheyenne didn't say whether she has legislation in mind to replace the ACA. But she did say people need to be able to purchase health insurance across state lines. She said tort reform is also needed to curb the high cost of malpractice insurance for medical providers, which she said is one of the main causes of rising health care costs.

Cheney, the daughter of former Wyoming congressman and Vice-President Dick Cheney, faces Rock Springs Democrat Ryan Greene on the November general election ballot for Wyoming's lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
