Major Downtown Cheyenne Intersection Reopens
After three weeks of orange cones and detour signs, Central Avenue at 19th Street is now open to Cheyenne motorists.
Deputy City Engineer Nathan Beauheim, who serves as the 19th Street Reconstruction Project construction manager for the city, says Phase III of the project is roughly 60 percent complete.
"It's closed between Carey and Warren, but all of the north/south streets in there are open," said Beauheim.
"We've got all the underground work done," added Beauheim. "The eastern most block is done except for pavement and they're working on curb, gutter and sidewalk between Capitol and Central right now."
Beauheim says the $1.213 million project, which stretches between Pioneer and Warren Avenues, is expected to be completed by mid-November.
Funding for the project comes from the 5th Penny Sales Tax and the Board of Public Utilities.
