A man arrested during a May traffic stop on U.S. Highway 287 faces a felony charge after an Albany County Sheriff's Deputy allegedly found cocaine and marijuana in his car.

Jesse Douglas Petrash, 26, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Albany County District Court to one count of possession of a controlled substance -- specifically, cocaine. If convicted, he could spend seven years in prison and have to pay a $15,000 fine.

According to the affidavit, Petrash was arrested May 15 after he was pulled over in a blue Mazda 6 on U.S. Highway 287. The deputy approached the vehicle and reportedly smelled marijuana coming from inside.

When asked, Petrash reportedly told the deputy he had marijuana and cocaine in his car.

The affidavit goes on to say that a search of the car turned up a clear plastic bag containing marijuana, one glass pipe with suspected residue of a controlled substance, and a clear plastic corner of what appeared to be a grocery bag containing what looked like cocaine.

Court documents say the apparent cocaine weighted more than three grams, making it a felony amount.

Petrash is scheduled to stand trial Nov. 8-9. He remains free on $10,000 signature bond.
