A single-engine aircraft crashed on Interstate 80 at milepost 321 in Telephone Canyon at 7:50 this morning. The pilot, who was the only one aboard the plane, was taken to Ivinson Memorial Hospital.  He complained of pains, but did not immediately appear to have any life-threatening injuries.

The pilot has been identified as 67-year-old Steven Stam from Holland, Michigan.  The aircraft is an Ercoupe, a plane built from 1940-1969, and is registered in Davis, California. It was approaching from the southwest just before the crash occurred.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol continues to secure the scene for investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration, and I-80 remains open in both directions.
