Representatives of the Daniels Fund joined University of Wyoming and state officials in announcing their partnership to support the UW Board of Trustees' Education Initiative Wednesday at a press conference in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center.

Daniels Fund President and CEO Linda Childears along with Sen. Hank Brown were on hand as well as University of Wyoming President Dick McGinity, UW College of Education Dean Ray Reutzel, UW Board of Trustees President David Palmerlee, and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow.

According to UW, the Daniels Fund has approved a five-year grant of $5,000,000 for the creation and implementation of a five-year strategic plan for evaluating, recommending, and implementing preeminent best practices and programs for educator preparation at the UW College of Education.

The strategic plan includes two years of planning and evaluation that will precede several years of implementing best practices at the UW College of Education.  Before they could be recommended to the college, practices must first be approved by the Education Initiative Board and the UW Board of Trustees.
