UW Volleyball Goes 4-0 At Home Tournament
Coach Chad Callihan was pleased with his team's first outing of the season. Wyoming went a perfect 4-0 at this weekend's UniWyo Invite.
Wyoming opened with a 3-0 win over the Stetson Hatters Friday. Matches went 25-23, 25-22, and 36-34. Erin Kirby led the way with 6 kills and 4 blocks. Whitney Smith distrubted the ball well with 12 assists.
Friday night Wyoming battled back to defeat Idaho after starting 0-2. The Vandals got the first two matches 23-25 and 26-28. Wyoming would go on a tear winning three in a row 25-21, 25-16, and 15-12. Erin Kirby had 15 kills. Courtney Chacon recorded 35 assists.
Saturday afternoon the Cowgirls defeated Montana State in four very close sets. Scores went 29-27, 25-23, 25-27, and 26-24. Reese Plante had 2 blocks and 7 block assists.
Wyoming finished the tournament strong beating Dranke University 3-0. Scores go 25-15, 25-23, and 25-18. Kayla Slofkiss had 7 kills, while Courtney Chacon had 31 assists.
The Cowgirls head to Harrisonburg, Virginia for a tournament at James Madison University September 6th and 7th.
