Wyoming Breweries Hope To Strike Gold At Great American Beer Festival
The 2018 Great American Beer Festival kicks off tomorrow and many of Wyoming's best breweries will be going for the gold at the "Super Bowl of Beer".
Last year, the Jackson-based Melvin Brewing Company won the "Brewing Group Of The Year" award at the annual event in Denver. Melvin's Hubert MPA also won a gold medal in the American Style Pale Ale category and their Wet Hop struck gold in the Fresh or Wet Hop Ale category.
Three other Wyoming breweries also won medals last year. Snake River Brewing took gold in the Coffee Stout and Porter category with their Speargun Milk Stout. Sheridan's Black Tooth Brewing claimed the silver medal in the Irish-Style Red category with their Bomber Mountain and Coal Creek Tap in Laramie won a bronze medal with their Heavy 80 Scottish-Style Ale.
Black Tooth, Coal Creek, Melvin, and Snake River will all be back this year, joining Cheyenne's Accomplice Brewing Company, Jackson's Roadhouse Brewing Company, Laramie's Altitude Chophouse and Brewery, Saratoga's Snowy Mountain Brewery, and the Thermopolis-based One Eyed Buffalo Brewing Company on the festival floor.
