Wyoming Federal Judges Sentence Men For ID Theft, Child Pornography
Wyoming federal judges recently sentenced four men for crimes including child pornography, bankruptcy fraud, identity theft, and assault, according to a news release from the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's Office.
U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl sentenced Robert M. Lane, 63, of Las Vegas, for falsification of records in a bankruptcy proceeding. Lane was arrested in Ventura, Calif. He received one year, six months of imprisonment, to be followed by one year of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and a $1,000 fine.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Internal Revenue Service investigated this case.
Skavdahl also sentenced Tristin Lane Burnett, 19, of Fort Washakie for assault resulting in bodily injury. Burnett was arrested in Riverton. He received one year, six months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and $34,849.87 in restitution.
The FBI and the Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated this case.
Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced Randy Miller, 35, of Fort Collins, Colo., for misuse of a social security number and aggravated identity theft. He received four years of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $200 special assessment and $252.28 in restitution.
The Cody Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service investigated this case.
U.S. District Court Judge Alan Johnson sentenced Wayne Chester Lawton, 69, of Worland for possession of child pornography. Lawton was arrested in Casper. He received five years, 10 months of imprisonment, to be followed by five years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment. Restitution will be determined at a later date.
This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children, the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
