A 16-year-old Compton, California native is hoping to become the youngest African-American pilot to fly around the continental United States. As part of Isaiah Cooper's journey, he stopped at Cheyenne Regional Airport Thursday.

Cooper and his flight instructor hope to ultimately fly from California to Washington State, to Maine, and down to Florida.

He later hopes to become the youngest African-American pilot to fly around the globe.

CBS News Channel 5 and a crowd of a few Cheyenne residents were at the airport to welcome Cooper to town.

12:15 p.m. STORY UPDATE: The Cheyenne Police Department is reporting Isaiah's plane made an emergency landing on the 5700 block of Education Drive in Cheyenne. According to CBS Channel 5, both occupants in the plane were uninjured.
