The hot, dry and windy weather has whipped up more smoke from the Badger Creek Fire and forced a closure of Wyoming Highway 230 again.

U.S. Forest Service spokesperson Aaron Voos said the fire is close to the perimeter on the northeast corner of the fire. There are presently no evacuations and nothing major is at risk according to Voos.

“It’s just burning through new fuel, but resources are on the scene,” said Voos.

He also stated that air resources have been ordered to assist in fire suppression with retardant and water drops.

Meanwhile, Wyoming Highway 10 remains open at this time.

From the most recent update, the Badger Creek Fire was at 20,357 acres and 97 percent contained. Those figures are expected to change with more activity Thursday.
