Cowboy Basketball Will Play in Sun Bowl Tournament
Two more non-conference games have been announced for the upcoming 2018-19 Wyoming Cowboy men’s basketball season.
Late last week, it was revealed on Twitter that the Cowboys will be taking part in the 2018 WestStar Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational basketball tournament Dec. 21 and 22, 2018 in El Paso, TX. Besides UW, the other three teams include the host school, UTEP Miners, plus East Tennessee State and Norfolk State.
Wyoming and UTEP are old WAC rivals. They’ve played 65 previous times. The most recent was during the 2007-08 season, a 79-73 (Dec. 22, 2007) home loss for the Cowboys. The Miners are 42-23 against the Pokes in a series that dates back to their first meeting in the 1959-60 season.
UW is 2-0 all-time against Norfolk State with games during the 1997-98 and 2003-04 seasons. The Cowboys have never played East Tennessee State in men’s basketball.
As of now, the only other non-conference game known publicly for Wyoming this upcoming season is their Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge game at Evansville Nov. 28.
The rest of the non-conference schedule and the Mountain West league schedule will be released at later dates.
