A veteran presence has taken over the coaching the Wyoming linebackers with Jay Niemann added to Wyoming coach Craig Bohl’s staff during the off-season.

Niemann inherits two starters back at linebacker with seniors Logan Wilson (mike/middle) and Cassh Maluia (will/weakside). There’s also experience with senior Ben Wisdorf and sophomore Chad Muma returning. Redshirt freshmen Charles Hicks and Ray Rabou are getting plenty of reps and were two of the top tacklers in the open scrimmage April 13 in Casper.

Niemann sat down with KOWB’s David Settle for a lengthy conversation about the position. They talked in the interview above about his decision to come to Wyoming, coaching with a younger staff, plus what he’s seeing from the linebackers this spring, the emergence of Chad Muma, how the young guys are coming along, and how they finish put together a strong finish to spring drills.

Wyoming has three practices remaining, and that includes the Spring Game on Saturday, April 27, in Laramie at 2 p.m. in War Memorial Stadium.
