Laramie Colts Enter the Post-Season on a Hot Streak

The Laramie Colts are playing their best baseball of the season, as they head in to the Rocky Mountain Baseball League Regional Tournament.

Laramie (19-16) has won seven straight games after a weekend three-game sweep of the Denver Bats. In fact, the Colts won 11 of their final 13 regular season games.

A seven-run fourth inning pushed Laramie past the Bats Friday at Cowboy Field, 12-6. Chris Anderson had four hits to lead a 16-hit attack. In the big frame, Anderson had an RBI single, as well as Tre Snow. David Snider cleared the bases with a three-run triple, plus the Colts took advantage of an error and a dropped third strike. Connor Norton got the win on the mound.

In game one of a doubleheader Saturday, Laramie rallied for a 6-5 victory with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. CJ DeBose tied it with an RBI triple and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

In the second game of the twin bill, a four-run second inning put the Colts in front for good. They held on for a 9-7 win. Austin Hardy’s two-run single put Laramie ahead 5-2. They added three runs in the fifth and held off the Bats.

The Colts received the No. 8 seed in the post-season tournament. They face elimination Monday night against the Golden Grizz. Game time is 9 p.m. from Metro State College in Denver. The winner will take on the top seed Sterling X-Press as part of the double elimination bracket on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
