For the fifth year in a row, the Laramie Singer-Songwriter Competition returns to crown a winner among those who write and perform their own original music. The first round begins Saturday at 6:30 pm at the Buckhorn Bar & Parlor, and promises to have a great showing of local, talented artists.

Contestants judge each other, ranking their top ten songs, though audience members who are there from the beginning are able to vote for an "audience" category. The top three or four artists will advance from the first round onto the next one.

Check out these performances from the final round back in 2016.

Eighteen artists are entered this year, split into two heats of 9 artists and continuing down until there is one winner. Last year's top Singer-Songwriter at the end of competition was Jason Burge.

Be sure to head to the Buckhorn on Saturday, April 14 and Friday, April 20 to catch the first round of artists in this unique and local music competition. We will continue to follow the progress of the Laramie Singer-Songwriter Competition and bring updates as they come.
