A ''red flag warning'' has been issued by the National Weather Service for much of southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle for today (Oct. 25).

The warning means the fire danger in the area is extremely high. Winds in some areas are expected to hit between 50 mph and 60 mph. Those kinds of powerful wind gusts combined with dry conditions and temperatures which may hit the mid to upper 70s create a high fire danger and mean any fires that do start have the potential to spread rapidly.

The map below shows the areas included in the warning, which remains in effect from noon until 7  p.m.
