Riverton wrestler Ridge Briggs will continue his career at the Division 1 level with a commitment to the University of Wyoming program. Briggs is a 3 time state champion and made his first appearance at the top of the podium as a freshman back in 2017. He defeated Spencer Angel of Star Valley 2-1 to win the 3A 113 pound crown. Briggs finished that season with a record of 49-7.

In his sophomore year, Briggs took 3rd place at the state tournament as he lost in the 3A semi-finals ar 132 pounds but came back to win 2 matches to take home the bronze medal. His record in 2018 was 38-10. Briggs returned to championship mode in 2019 with a 16-1 win over Ren King of Star Valley to win the 3A 145 pound title. He had a tremendous season with 52 wins and just 4 losses.

2020 was a special season for Briggs as he won his 3rd state championship with a pin of Hagen Lamoreaux of Lyman so he repeated as the 3A 145 pound medalist. He finished the year 51-2 and also won the prestigious Ron Thon tournament in front of the home town fans with an exciting 5-2 win over defending state champion Analu Benabise of Kelly Walsh at 145 pounds.
