UW Appoints First AVP For Enrollment Management to Achieve Enrollment Goals
The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees approved several new personnel appointments during their meeting in Laramie today.
The trustees approved the appointment of its first associate vice provost for enrollment management at UW. Kyle Moore will assume his new duties on Aug. 23. Moore served as an administrator at West Texas A&M University and was critical in significantly increasing enrollment there, according to a UW news release.
Moore’s responsibilities at UW will include overseeing enrollment management functions, such as admissions, the registrar and scholarships and financial aid.
UW Spokesman Chad Baldwin said UW had two primary reasons for creating the new position, one being that increasing enrollment was a top priority for UW President Laurie Nichols and was laid out in the strategic plan released earlier this year.
The other reason, Baldwin said, was that the departments Moore will oversee- such as admissions- were recently moved from the Department of Student Affairs to the Department of Academic Affairs beneath Provost Kate Miller, who needs an administrator to oversee these departments.Moore will be reporting directly to Miller.
UW’s interim AVP for enrollment Mary Aguayo, who held the position since it was created in March, has been appointed the director of transfer relations at the new Transfer Success Center.
Aguayo previously served at the primary enrollment and policy strategist at UW. Her new responsibilities at the Transfer Success Center include hiring and leading a team to provide enrollment support and assisting transfer students transitioning to UW, strengthening relationships with Wyoming community colleges, improving and creating transfer credit policies and transfer advising agreements.
The trustees also appointed Mark Lyford as the new executive director of the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning at UW. He will also oversee the Office of Distance Education Support, which will support online courses at UW. Lyford was the director of the general biology program at UW since 2003 and was also special assistant to the AVP of undergraduate education.
