October 29, 2016, was one of the greatest games ever played at War Memorial Stadium. Wyoming's upset win over #13 Boise State propelled the Pokes to a bowl game, made Josh Allen a star, and invented a new move called "The Safety Dance".

The game looked like another Boise State blowout early on. Trailing 14-0 in the 2nd quarter, Allen connected with Jacob Hollister for a 19-yard touchdown. Boise State added a score before Hollister caught another 28-yard TD pass from Allen to make the score 21-17 at halftime.

After both defenses dominated the 3rd quarter, Boise State found the end zone early in the 4th quarter, taking a 28-20 lead. With 6:42 left to play, Allen found Tanner Gentry for a 27-yard touchdown and then passed to Jake Maulhardt for the game-tying two-point conversion.

Then, it happened.

With 1:25 left on the clock, and Boise State backed up on their own 10-yard line, Chase Applebee strip-sacked Broncos quarterback Brett Rypien. The ball went out of the end zone for a safety, which put the Pokes ahead for good 30-28.

Looking back on that beautiful fall night in Laramie two years ago, the memories of Wyoming fans pouring onto the field are still vivid. The game was a national coming out party for future NFL players Allen, Hollister, Gentry, and Brian Hill, who ran for 146 yards.

Yet, the most enduring image from that incredible evening remains defensive end Josiah Hill celebrating in the end zone. Years from now, Wyoming football fans will still be doing the Safety Dance.
