Wyoming’s Josh Allen is Part of Elite QB Watch List [VIDEOS]
Wyoming junior quarterback Josh Allen has been named to the Manning Award Preseason Watch List. He’s one of 30 of the nation’s top QB’s on the list.
Allen led UW to the 2016 Mountain West Mountain Division title, a berth in the MW Championship Game that Wyoming hosted and the 2016 Poinsettia Bowl. As a sophomore he threw for 3,203 yards and 28 touchdowns. Allen led the MW and ranked in the top 20 nationally in passing yards per completion (15.33), points responsible for (218) and TD passes. He finished second in the MW and was top 40 in passing yards and total offense per game.
Josh Allen was chosen last month as the Preseason MW Offensive Player of the Year at the MW Football Media Summit in Las Vegas.
Allen is also on preseason watch lists for the Maxwell, Davey O’Brien and Walter Camp Awards.
The Manning Award was created by and is sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It’s the one quarterback award that factors in bowl performances by the QB’s in its balloting.
Midseason additions will be announced Thursday, Oct. 12. The list of the 10 finalists will be released Thursday, Nov. 30. The winner of the Manning Award is unveiled during the week after the College Football Playoff National Championship.
Allen and the Cowboys are the midst of week three of Fall Camp.
