The Laramie Police Department will be holding a 'Coffee With a Cop' event on Wednesday, October 2. The event is designed for citizens to meet with LPD officers and talk about community concerns over a cup of Joe.

'Coffee with a Cop' is a National Police Community event started in 2011 by the Hawthorn Police Department in California. The goal of the program is to build trust between a city and its police officers.

"The key to Coffee with a Cop’s growing success is that it opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations that typically bring law enforcement officers and community members together." Coffee With a Cop website.

This year's 'Coffee With a Cop' will take place at two locations on October 2.

The day will start at Spring Wind Assisted Living and Memory Care at 1072 N. 22nd. LPD will be there for two hours beginning at 9:00 AM.

Then Starbucks on Grand Avenue will continue their support and host LPD officers for the 3rd year in a row from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM.

The public is invited to come by either location and speak to a police officer about anything that may concern you and enjoy a cup of coffee.

If you have questions, please contact Sergeant Ralph Lehtinen at 307-721-3513.
