The patrol says 74-year-old North Carolina resident Gary Larrick was headed east when he crossed the centerline, sideswiped an oncoming semi, went off the highway to the north, and overturned his rig.

Larrick, who was not properly buckled up, was partially ejected from the cab and died from his injuries.

The driver of the other semi was able to come to a controlled rest in the westbound emergency lane and was not injured in the collision.

The patrol says driver inattention and a possible medical condition are being investigated as possible contributing factors.

This is the 112th reported fatality on Wyoming's highways in 2022 compared to 96 in 2021, 117 in 2020, 132 in 2019, and 102 in 2018 to date.
